| Thank you for taking the time to learn about our unique offering. Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a radical model of growing and eating that eliminates the middlemen between the fields and your table. You invest in the season’s costs at the beginning of the season, and weyour farmersprovide you with up to eight months of fresh, diverse, quality produce straight from our fields. Your share of the harvest.
But in a CSA, you are provided with more than quality, abundant vegetables all season. The CSA model also provides community among eaters and with us, your farmers. Through the CSA you have opportunities to interact with neighbors, old friends and new friends. Further, with a CSA share you invest in your county and in our common resources: the local economy and the environment. By joining us, you can promote environmental stewardship with every delicious bite of carrot you take. The CSA is, at its essence, a relationship. Your side is simple: you sign up for a share this winter, providing us with funds when we need them for purchasing seeds, new implements, etc. In return, each Tuesday during the growing season we will harvest a selection of what is fresh and ready on the farm, which we will carefully wash and deliver to you at our convenient downtown Mac pick-up site. (See our harvest schedule for a list of vegetables types and approximate seasonal availability.) With each week’s vegetables, we provide a newsletter with farm thoughts, descriptions of the more unusual vegetables and how to use them, and recipes. (You can read sample past newsletters on our farm bloggo to the CSA newsletter archives.) We will also host several on-farm events throughout the season to create more opportunities for you to interact with your community, your farmers, your fields, and, ultimately, your food. Each week’s share will supply you with about $21 to $24 worth of produce (fluctuates with season and calculated using market prices). Typically, a share provides the main vegetables for an omnivorous family of four or a vegetable-loving adult couple. You can see a list of sample shares and photographs here.
