Hi Katie,
As a strict Libertarian Free Market Capitalist, I believe your discussion about property rights was very good. My hope is that the planning commission truly looks at the issues you bring to the table on how your property will be affected, and doesn't just approve because of political connections or the additional tax revenue to the county. Good luck, I really enjoy reading your blog every week.

Hey there!

I have read about the Drängen in the University of Wisconsin "Work Efficiency Tip Sheet". This sounds like a really great concept. I am an aspiring market farmer in my 30s, and I have to admit that my back and my knees are not as good as they need to be for that vocation. I am considering various tools and technique to improve ergonomic.

This article was published in 2008, which was over two years ago. Given the experience, I wonder how you feel about it now. Is it worth the money? Is it actually improving efficiency in a significant fashion? Which tasks is it better suited for: hand weeding, transplanting, harvesting? Is there any task or condition where it does not deliver as expected? You discussed using the Drängen in another post from this spring, and you appear to still be fairly positive about it, but I would love to know more!

Thanks for your excellent blog, BTW. It's very inspiring!

Hi guys, finally the blog is up and running. My week is just not the same without seeing what you guys are up to. Loved the pics of Rusty and the cauliflower. Thursday in the truck on the way to our CSA drop off Ben had a small head of purple cabbage in his lab and was having a riot pulling the leaves off and handing them to Jake. Too funny. Hope Rusty continues to be a good eater, the boys suddenly decided last week they no longer liked potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes or anything else farm grown. It's all bread all the time or anything with eggs. I'm being creative by cooking veggies and mashing them and then putting them in a fritatta so they are still getting the veggies without knowing it. I hope you guys are getting along well with the farm and Rusty.

Wow! You guys are AMAZING!! I found your website via the kookoolan farms website, and I've just been enjoying all of your beautiful photos and stories. I am in Portland, I wish I was a bit closer to McM so that I could get my hands on some of the fruits of your incredible labor! You guys are truly an inspiration. Thanks for sharing, and for being awesome role models.

Yes! I appreciate the "price" question, it is one I come back to over and over again as I mindfully attempt to stretch our dollar. Despite the growing interest in local food, most of America (I think) shops on autopilot without regard to growing practices, sustainability issues and health implication. Certainly the comparisons and analysis mentioned in Cole's article mirror an unfortunate cultural occurrence.

Anyway, I searched out your site because I have missed you guys at the farmer's market. Hope you are well.

I had to take a moment and leave a comment on your post because I believe your recipe for Caesar Salad is the best I've ever seen.
My family I will be very anxious to try it.

Thank you for sharing your recipe!
