In 2008, we continued to farm on Grand Island, where we plan to stay for a long time. Here are some random photos from the year. (For more stories & photos, visit our farm blog.)

This year we experimented with direct sowing winter squash. We sowed the paths to clover. The combination worked great! June 2008.
We also planted a small perennial vegetable field this year. To the left are blooming sunchokes, and to the right are cardoons, a relative of artichokes. August 2008.

In August, we drilled a new well to replace the one we drilled in 2007 (which never functioned at all at any rate of pumping). The new well is awesome!!!!!!!! This is the pump test.
